The Band We Want To Be

So we've been thinking...

It's easy to see that things in this country are hard right now. I don't have to list things off, if you live here and make less than Donald Trump you know what I'm talking about. Regardless of what a lot of people seem to want you to believe, we're all in this together.

We got to talking about the type of band we want to be. We're tight, we can kind of choose how we want to sound. So what's it going to be?

Angry is out. Angry doesn't solve anything, metal isn't any fun now that Prong has grown up, and it can too easily start to sound like whining.

Political is worse than useless, especially in a day and age where anything remotely 'political' makes people want to pick up shovels and start beating eachother over the head. Plus, it's been scientifically proven that a pop song cannot win an election.

We can't be bubblegum pop to take peoples' minds off their problems. Lady Gaga pretty much has that covered and trust me when I tell you NO ONE wants to see Scott in a dress made of meat.

Indie Rock is out because none of our families are rich and none of us look like (or like) Zooey Deschanel, fuzzy hats, ukuleles, or handle-bar moustaches.

Whatever the hell you call Jack Johnson-type music is out because crooning lullabies to adults seems really childish and vaguely creepy.

So what the hell do we do?

We've decided to play music for real people. We've decided to sing about stuff that's going on in as straight-forward and honest a way as we can. We've decided to write and sing our songs for YOU, and not for YOUR MONEY.

We're going to do it plugged in and loud. We're going to do it unplugged and loud. We're going to do it on what stages are left in this country, on the streets, in your living rooms if you let us. We're going to do it because we need to.

We really hope you need it, too.
